MNS Scientists
Students from age 5 upwards in Muslim National School had Junior Einstein’s after-school science club this winter, and each Thursday it provided hands-on science fun to the kids.
Every week the kids would be desperately waiting for a Thursday as this was a day of fun activities with active science learning. Following is a list of the activities covered over the course of 9 weeks.
Slime science: non Newtonian fluids & cross linking polymers, light the lightsaber with our plasma ball, conductors & insulators, optical illusions: how the eye tricks the brain, animation & cartoon thaumatropes, rocket launchers & rocket races, bubbling elephant toothpaste exothermic reactions, marble run races: momentum & speed.
Red cabbage pH indicators, density lava lamps, Newtons colour wheel & light diffraction, Bernoulli’s principles of flight, hand boilers & energy circuit sticks.
Students were also allowed to take home their weekly experiments, and they were found to be educating their parents on various science concepts most days. Find below some testimonials from the students who joined the after-school science club:
“It’s so fascinating to see these chemicals mix and then change colors” – a student of class 1
“I love science experiments” – a student of class 3
